About the Department
Dental Industry
The Department of Dental Industry provides specialised training in dental laboratory technology — the discipline responsible for fabricating the crowns, bridges, dentures, orthodontic appliances, and implant restorations that dentists use to restore their patients' oral health and function.
Students learn the full range of dental laboratory skills: working with dental ceramics, metals, acrylics, and digital fabrication technologies including CAD/CAM systems and 3D printing. The programme combines material science, anatomy, and practical craftsmanship with a strong understanding of clinical requirements.
With Iraq's dental healthcare sector growing rapidly and digital dentistry transforming laboratory workflows, Dental Industry graduates are in increasing demand — working in dental laboratories, clinics, and hospitals across the country.

Direction & Purpose
Vision & Mission
🔭
Vision
To be the foremost dental industry technology programme in Iraq — producing graduates who combine traditional craftsmanship with digital dental technologies, serving patients and dental professionals with precision-made restorations that meet the highest clinical standards.
🎯
Mission
To deliver a technically rigorous dental industry education that equips graduates with the manual skills, material science knowledge, and digital competencies required to fabricate high-quality dental prosthetics and appliances — contributing to improved oral health outcomes across Iraq.
Strategic Direction
Objectives & Goals
Develop strong technical skills in the fabrication of full and partial dentures, crowns, bridges, and fixed prosthetic restorations.
Train students in dental ceramics — porcelain layering, pressing, and characterisation techniques for aesthetic restorations.
Provide expertise in orthodontic appliance fabrication including removable appliances, retainers, and space maintainers.
Introduce students to digital dentistry: CAD/CAM design, milling, and 3D printing technologies in dental laboratory practice.
Develop knowledge of dental implant prosthetics including implant-supported crowns, bridges, and overdentures.
Foster understanding of dental materials science — biocompatibility, mechanical properties, and clinical selection criteria.
Establish partnerships with dental clinics and laboratories for clinical exposure and cooperative training programmes.
Promote quality standards, infection control, and professional ethics in dental laboratory practice.

A Message from the Head of Department
Every crown, every denture, every orthodontic appliance that a patient receives has passed through the hands of a dental laboratory technician. Our students are the craftspeople and scientists behind dentistry — and the precision of their work directly affects the health, comfort, and confidence of patients. We have built a department that takes this responsibility seriously, combining traditional laboratory craftsmanship with the digital technologies transforming our field. I am proud of our graduates and the standards they uphold in dental laboratories across Iraq.
